1,400 Homes Planned Near Callaway Gardens

According to a recent report in the AJC, Atlanta-based Cousins Properties has teamed up with Callaway Gardens to build new home communities at the garden attraction and resort about an hour’s drive southwest of Atlanta.

The homes will be scattered throughout the facility’s 13,000-acre property that includes the famed Gardens as well as golf courses, a spa and hotel rooms.

Callaway Gardens plans to use a significant portion of the profits from the joint venture to help grow its endowment in order to sustain the Gardens.

Over the next few years,Cousins also plans to build new amenities for the housing development, including a new golf clubhouse, a golf learning center, canoe and kayak club and a beach club.

Plans call for 1,400 homes, including custom houses, rustic cabins and golf-course cottages, to be built in several phases. The first homes are expected to be completed in May, with more this summer.
