Opus South Plans Mixed-Use Development in Dalton

According to a recent article in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Opus South Corp. recently unveiled plans for Hammond Creek, a 1.2 million-square-foot mixed-use development on 168 acres in Dalton.  The project, which fronts the North Dalton Bypass at Underwood Road, will include retail, residential and flex office components.  The 1.2 million square feet of retail space will be built in three phases.  Opus South said it has begun negotiations with a grocery store to anchor Phase I and has generated interest from National Softlines department stores to anchor Phase II.  Additional sections of the development will include apartments, senior housing and a small office component.  The site will have visibility and signs along North Dalton Bypass, and will include a new four-lane parkway through the project connecting the North Dalton Bypass with Highway 71.

Construction on Hammond Creek is scheduled to begin in 2009.
