What Is The Truth?
Today DIRT-e introduces a new item: “What is the Truth?”
In our world there are truths that we all know. (The moon orbits Earth) Truths that people tell us. (In the Universe Earth is an insignificant little thing.) Truths that are intuitive. (I should not pick on someone who cannot defend themselves) Truths that don’t seem so obvious. (This drought will end, someday.)
We hear them or read them every day. We may silently question an accepted truth, but we rarely have an opportunity to challenge, to really speak our mind about, an accepted Truth.
Below is one example. Vehicle A/C and fuel economy. Share with us what you think.
Also if you have a truth that needs daylight shed on it, tell us what about it. We will periodically publish “What is the Truth”? Maybe yours will be next.
Thanks, DOM
Automobile Air Conditioning.
In the 1990’s environmentalists, news media, auto makers and a number of my friends argued strongly and regularly that in order to conserve fuel we should not drive with our vehicle windows down. You remember this. Many pick-up truck owners kept their tail gates down or removed them. Driving with A/C on uses less fuel, thus pollutes less.
Today is just the opposite. A/C uses more fuel using the A/C is unfriendly to the environment. It appears to be exactly the same people delivering this news that delivered the, now false, information back in the 90s.
