About
Welcome to DIRT-e, Development Consultants Group’s e-version of its late, legendary newsletter DIRT. Many of you may remember DIRT, which was published several times a year between November, 1994, and May, 1999. It was written, edited, and produced entirely by DCG employees, and provided an entertaining opportunity for DCG’s clients and its friends to keep abreast of major happenings in the world of metro Atlanta development.
The original DIRT ceased publication due to several factors, foremost among which was a major increase in the company’s workload, which greatly reduced the amount of time its engineer/planner/surveyor writers could invest in the process.
In the ensuing years since DIRT’s demise, DCG’s workload has remained high, but additional staff have been added to assist in handling it. Because most of the earlier effort’s talented researchers/reporters/writers are still with the firm, and some of the new folks seem to be displaying latent writing abilities, we’ve decided to resurrect the publication. It was just too darn much fun putting it together not to.
The web-based edition of the newsletter varies from the original paper version in several ways. First, we have changed the name slightly — to DIRT-e — to differentiate it from its ever-so-20th-century predecessor. Second, DIRT-e allows us to take advantage of internet technology and update the publication on a more-or-less-continuous basis, meaning that there are no longer “issues” of the publication, just one central location where articles are added as they are written. Third, the new, constantly updated incarnation, unlike its paper predecessor, will not come to you; you will have to go to it. So, feel free to make us your home page, or at least part of your regular net-browsing routine — right along with Drudge and the weather report.
Thanks for dropping by today to check us out. We hope to earn the privilege of making “getting down and DIRT-e” a habit that you engage in often.
